HISTORY
Performing arts history in Monterey Park
Monterey Park celebrates in the street. Its Lunar New Year Festival along Garvey Avenue is the city's signature — a two-day fair that has drawn over 100,000 people, opening with lion and dragon dancers and live entertainment. Its Cherry Blossom Festival, first held in the early 1970s and revived by community volunteers in 1998, fills the spring with taiko drumming, traditional Japanese dance, and martial-arts performance.

Free trial policy
Free trials are limited to one (1) free group class and one (1) free private lesson per student, across all programs, and are subject to availability. Free trial private music lessons — including voice — require a deposit of 50% of the first-lesson rate at the time of booking. After the trial lesson is attended, the deposit is either refunded or applied toward enrollment. If the student does not show up for the scheduled trial, or cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, the deposit is forfeited. The deposit requirement applies to music and voice private lessons only; acting and dance offer free group class trials instead, and private lessons in those programs are generally reserved for advanced students.
