Jazz Funk Technique is built on correction and repetition: a dancer holds an instruction in mind, applies it, and adjusts. That process exercises sustained attention and self-regulation — keeping a goal active while overriding an automatic habit — which develop steadily through childhood and adolescence.

THE CLASS
Jazz Funk Technique at PopRock Academy is a technique class for students ages 8 to 17, designed to strengthen and condition a dancer's technical foundation through classical dance technique. No prior jazz training is required — the class is built to help hip hop students strengthen their dance technique with classical dance. There is no recital for this class. Curriculum: a strength and conditioning class structurally grounded in classical ballet training as commonly found in jazz class, adjusted for the hip hop dancer — ballet-derived across-the-floor and core work, with no (or very minimal) barre work.

PRICING
Parent Perk — $5 Adult Hip Hop
Adult Hip Hop for parents of enrolled students — $5
While your child trains, you can too. Parents of enrolled PopRock students can take the Adult Hip Hop class at an ongoing rate of $5 per class. This is a standing family benefit — already our best deal, so it can't be combined with other offers.
Discounts and promotional offers cannot be combined. Each student may use one offer per class. If a class is under a promotional tuition rate, it does not count toward any other discount until that promotion ends. The one exception: Competition Team early-bird registration is a registration deadline, not a tuition discount — it never affects eligibility for other offers.
Free First Class

Your first class in any regular ongoing group class is free — try it before you enroll. Restrictions apply; contact the front office.

Multi-Class Discount (50% off 3rd+)
50% off the 3rd and subsequent regular monthly group classes — 50% off
Enroll in three or more classes and the third is half price: 50% off your third and any additional regular monthly group class, applied to the least expensive qualifying class. How classes are counted, per student: - Any private lesson enrollment counts as one class — regardless of how many lessons or their length. - Competition Team enrollment counts as one class — regardless of how many teams. - Each regular monthly group class counts as one class. What can be discounted: only regular monthly group class subscriptions. Private lessons, Competition Team, workshops, drop-ins, single classes, and audition coaching qualify toward the count but are never themselves discounted. The Adult Hip Hop ongoing student rate qualifies; the parent rate does not, as it is already a special ongoing offer. This discount cannot be combined with any other offer. If a class is under another tuition promotion, it does not count toward this discount until that promotion ends. Competition Team early-bird registration is not a tuition discount and does not affect eligibility.

Free trial policy
Free trials are limited to one (1) free group class and one (1) free private lesson per student, across all programs, and are subject to availability. Free trial private music lessons — including voice — require a deposit of 50% of the first-lesson rate at the time of booking. After the trial lesson is attended, the deposit is either refunded or applied toward enrollment. If the student does not show up for the scheduled trial, or cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, the deposit is forfeited. The deposit requirement applies to music and voice private lessons only; acting and dance offer free group class trials instead, and private lessons in those programs are generally reserved for advanced students.
