Music Conservatory

Audio Production teaches techniques for producing professional tracks ready for public performance. Lessons run 30, 45, or 60 minutes weekly in a studio with professional recording equipment including a voice recording booth. A group composition class or music ensemble option is included.

Drum Circle is a group percussion class where students build rhythm, timing, and ensemble skills together.

Drum lessons at PopRock Academy are available for students as young as 3 years old on both acoustic and professional electric drum kits. Mini-Drummers is a group class for ages 3-4. Private lessons are 60 minutes weekly or two 30-minute sessions. Styles include rock, jazz, and pop. Two annual free recitals are included.

Guitar lessons at PopRock Academy start at age 7 due to instrument size and complexity. Focus is on contemporary styles: studio, jazz, pop, rock. Weekly 60-minute lessons or two 30-minute sessions for younger students. Ensemble playing and two annual solo recitals are included. Students need their own guitar for lessons and home practice.

Mini-Drummers is a 45-minute group drum class for students ages 3 to 4. Students need their own drum sticks and drum pad to participate. A Drum Circle for ages 5-16 (55 minutes) is part of the private lesson program.

Musical Theatre combines acting, singing, and movement to build well-rounded performers through songs and scenes from the stage. Beginning August 2026 it runs as a triple-threat class — singing, dancing, and acting together — in a single 1 hour 25 minute session, for students ages 8 and up.

Piano lessons at PopRock Academy are offered for all levels starting at age 3, in 60-minute sessions or two 30-minute sessions for younger students. Students have won the Golden Classical Music Awards, and two annual recitals are held on a grand piano at the Steinway gallery in Pasadena.

PopStar trains dance and singing together. Students learn to move and sing at the same time — the skill a pop performance actually asks for, and the one that is hardest to build in isolation.

Rock Band Jam brings students together to rehearse and perform as a live band, developing ensemble musicianship and stage skills.

Songwriting & Composition provides one-on-one guidance for aspiring songwriters and composers. Students must have basic keyboard proficiency and music theory knowledge. Uses Logic Pro X and Pro Tools. Students collaborate with professional artists who have released music commercially.

Vocal Recording & Audio Engineering teaches students to track, edit, and produce vocals in a professional recording environment.

Voice and singing lessons at PopRock Academy teach healthy singing with emphasis on proper vocal placement, serving styles from Classical to Jazz, Musical Theatre, Pop, and Rock. Students may begin as young as age 3. Two annual recitals are held in June and December with free admission for family and friends.
