All our teachers are both University trained as well as working artists. All our teachers CAN do and CAN teach. As such we also expect all our students to treat their education at our academy with the utmost respect. We want every one of our student to succeed and we believe that every one of our students have the ability to succeed if given the right resources.
PopRock History
PopRock Academy was founded on November 11, 2011 by Paul Kwo in the city of Alhambra. Paul Kwo had been teaching for over a decade for various programs and decided to open a school that he wished he had when he was a child here in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. He created the original program at 11 S. 2nd St. in a tiny 2000 sqft facility. Even though the area was small, because of the dedication of him and his team of teachers and staff, we had grown to tremendous height and eventually moved to our current location at 9657 Las Tunas Dr. with 2750 sqft of space, large dance and performance space, and a recording and engineering room.
We serve the residents of Alhambra, San Marino, San Gabriel, South Pasadena, Arcadia, Monterey Park, Temple City, Rosemead, Sierra Madre, Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Atwater Village, Glendale, El Monte, Montebello, Monrovia, Altadena and the greater Los Angeles area.
