Adult Programs
Adult Programs put every grown-up path in one place — adult hip hop, voice-over training, TV/film/commercial acting, private music lessons in every instrument, and audition coaching. Whether you're starting fresh or returning after years away, you train with the same professional faculty as our conservatory students.
Free trial policy
Free trials are limited to one (1) free group class and one (1) free private lesson per student, across all programs, and are subject to availability. Free trial private music lessons — including voice — require a deposit of 50% of the first-lesson rate at the time of booking. After the trial lesson is attended, the deposit is either refunded or applied toward enrollment. If the student does not show up for the scheduled trial, or cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, the deposit is forfeited. The deposit requirement applies to music and voice private lessons only; acting and dance offer free group class trials instead, and private lessons in those programs are generally reserved for advanced students. Additional restrictions may apply — contact the PopRock front desk for details. This offer may be rescinded at any time.

Audio Production teaches techniques for producing professional tracks ready for public performance. Lessons run 30, 45, or 60 minutes weekly in a studio with professional recording equipment including a voice recording booth. A group composition class or music ensemble option is included.

Drum lessons at PopRock Academy are available for students as young as 3 years old on both acoustic and professional electric drum kits. Mini-Drummers is a group class for ages 3-4. Private lessons are 60 minutes weekly or two 30-minute sessions. Styles include rock, jazz, and pop. Two annual free recitals are included.

Guitar lessons at PopRock Academy start at age 7 due to instrument size and complexity. Focus is on contemporary styles: studio, jazz, pop, rock. Weekly 60-minute lessons or two 30-minute sessions for younger students. Ensemble playing and two annual solo recitals are included. Students need their own guitar for lessons and home practice.

Adult Hip Hop Level 1 is an entry-level hip hop class for adults, building foundational technique, grooves, and choreography.

Piano lessons at PopRock Academy are offered for all levels starting at age 3, in 60-minute sessions or two 30-minute sessions for younger students. Students have won the Golden Classical Music Awards, and two annual recitals are held on a grand piano at the Steinway gallery in Pasadena.

Songwriting & Composition provides one-on-one guidance for aspiring songwriters and composers. Students must have basic keyboard proficiency and music theory knowledge. Uses Logic Pro X and Pro Tools. Students collaborate with professional artists who have released music commercially.

TV/Film/Commercial Acting teaches essential camera skills for auditioning in Hollywood: eye lines, micro-expressions, body positions, and on-camera performance. Curriculum developed by Paul Kwo. Recommended for ages 8 to adults; co-enrollment in Fundamental Acting is recommended.

Voice and singing lessons at PopRock Academy teach healthy singing with emphasis on proper vocal placement, serving styles from Classical to Jazz, Musical Theatre, Pop, and Rock. Students may begin as young as age 3. Two annual recitals are held in June and December with free admission for family and friends.

Voice-over training for adults — the same professional-track curriculum as the youth program, in its own dedicated adult session. Commercial reads, animation, narration, and building a working demo.
BY REQUEST
Special Workshop: Walk In Like You Mean It (Acting for Professionals)
A special workshop taught by Paul Kwo: the on-camera audition method (Hacker lineage) adapted for non-actors and other industries — how to walk into any room with presence, connect immediately, and communicate with truth. The core program is Acting for Professionals, tailored to the audience and previously delivered under brandings including Acting for Realtors and for tech companies; it carries forward Paul's earlier job and social skills course. Standards are delivery-format-independent.
